Yesterday I received a subpoena to appear before a Grand Jury. I would like to have a lawyer with me when I go. Is this allowed? Or could I have a lawyer appear for me?

Jason has said it all. Your attorney can sit outside the jury room and be available for you to come out and ask him/her questions, but he cannot attend the session with you, and you assuredly should not enter this thicket without counsel.

It is highly recommended that you consult with a lawyer before responding to any grand jury subpoena. While you cannot have your lawyer with you during the grand jury proceeding, you can consult with your lawyer prior to the proceeding and have your lawyer accompany you. In some cases, you can even avoid grand jury testimony altogether. For more information please contact me directly. (619) 274-8036. Best, Jason T. Conforti
