A house party turned violent in the early morning hours of October 20th when an unknown suspect opened fire on attendees, killing one man and injuring one woman.

According to police, the unknown assailant approached the front yard where the house party was going on and fired into the revelers. A man in his early sixties was shot and later died at the scene when paramedics and police arrived after being receiving numerous calls from the area. The woman, aged 51, was shot in her lower body and taken to a hospital where surgery was performed. It is unknown what condition she is currently in, although she is known to have survived the shooting. No other injuries were reported. Police have been questioning witnesses and party attendees and collecting evidence in the hopes that it will lead to the shooter’s capture.

At present, the perpetrator of the shooting has still not been identified and, as a result, it is unknown what motivations may have led him to open fire on the party attendees. Given the advanced age of the victims, it is also unclear if the incident was related to gang or drug violence, or whether or not the suspect had attended the party at some point or knew the victims.

The San Diego police have been unable to proffer any physical description of the shooting suspect and the investigation is ongoing. The names of the victims have also not been released as of the date of the incident.

The shooting took place on Jewell Drive around 1 a.m. It is possible the suspect was intoxicated or under the influence of narcotics, although it is also possible that he or she had some connection, however tenuous, to either the victims or others at the house party. Whether noise or past incidences led to the shooting is still unknown. According to San Diego police, the suspect is now wanted for murder and anyone who has any information about the incident should get in contact with San Diego authorities as soon as they can.
