San Diego investigators are looking for a man who is suspected of stealing cellular phone units from a business. The incident happened at the Wireless Cafe. That particular business is located on Scripps Poway Parkway in the Scripps Ranch area.

A man entered the Wireless Cafe at around 8:15 PM on Saturday October 19. He may have appeared as though he were initially a customer in the store. However, he eventually appeared to have a handgun and immediately demanded cash from a female employee. Soon enough he fled the area with several cellular devices.

The suspect was described to police as a Hispanic man of average height. He is believed to have a medium to chunky build. Testimony provided by those at the site seems to suggest that he is in his 30s, and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt at the time of the robbery.

Fortunately there were no injuries. In fact, investigators have suggested that the suspect simply simulated the act of drawing a gun. He may not have had one at all. If this were indeed the case, it would be useful in a court case as an attorney might seek to use it to illustrate that the suspect did not actually intend to harm anyone in the process.

Authorities feel that theft of cellular devices is now on the rise. Some people have had their cellular phones stolen when they were going about their business in public. Victims have been approached and have had their equipment taken from them. Sometimes these crimes were violent while on other occasions they were closer to pickpocket operations.

People are warned to avoid flashing around cellular phones and keep them in a secure place as a result. Nevertheless, this crime was slightly different, as it seemed that the criminal was originally looking for money.

They ended up taking phones from a store, however, and might end up trying to sell them. Officers will probably be looking at the serial numbers of phones to ensure that the stolen items are not sold.
