In southern California, it seems that not a day goes by without a news article, or other media article, surfacing that deals with allegations of child molestation of sexual abuse of children.  Well, as a sex crimes attorney in Los Angeles I know how many false accusations of childhood sexual abuse are floating around. I see it on a day to day basis and work with my accused clients to clear their name from the terrible stigma associate with sex crimes and child molestation charges.

Well, here is an example where child molestation allegations launched against a former elementary school teacher in Duarte were found to be false or at least highly suspect to the point where reasonable doubt kicked in.  Last Friday, a Pasadena jury acquitted Mr. Wade Bughman, after over one week of deliberating.

Mr. Bughman was found not guilty on all nine felony charges of child molestation.  Given that five separate accusers came forward and made up false sexual abuse accusations, this could not have been an easy case for either side.  What makes this criminal justice victory even more remarkable is that Mr. Bughman was facing a life sentence if convicted of all the charges.

Sexual abuse allegations involving minors are never easy cases to win but this victory shows that the criminal justice system in California does work and can shed light on false accusations even when the odds look insurmountable.
