Fresno police took a man into custody in the early morning hours on Thursday August 1 on suspicion of murder. In what may be described as domestic violence taken to an extreme, the man shot his mother dead. Police claim that an argument may have proceeded the shooting.

Officers say that Javier Sanchez, age 29, said that he shot his 62-year-old mother Sylvia Valenica. Police had arrived at an area chain convenience store on North Palm at some time around 1:00 AM on Thursday morning. While they were at the 7-Eleven, Sanchez apparently explained that he not only shot Valencia but also killed her.

As a result, officers ended up taking a trip to the home. They arrived near McKinley and Arthur avenues, where they indeed found that Valenica was dead. She had apparently died of a gunshot wound, which fit with the story given to them earlier by Sanchez.

Investigators later stated that they believe the murder came around as a result from an argument between Valenica and Sanchez. Domestic violence sometimes takes a very deadly turn. Apparently the act of murder was not premeditated. Sanchez doesn't appear to have set out with the intent to murder his mother.

Arguments get heated, and violent crime can often be the result. While people often think of domestic violence as a beating or something similar, it can sometimes take a serious turn for the worse. Of course all forms of domestic violence are serious crimes and need to be taken care of.

Currently Sanchez is in police custody. He will be booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of murder. There are a few things that may help his case, however. He did apparently tell police what he done, which could be interpreted as cooperating with the authorities.

Moreover the act of murder doesn't appear to be premeditated, and instead arose as the result of a fight. This is treated differently under the law. Nevertheless, a person's life was lost in the process and that's a very serious concern. Courts consider human life precious, and the legal process is designed to protect it. That means the Sanchez case will be examined carefully.
