Cobb County Police have been looking at some recent crimes in Marietta that took place from July 30 through July 31. There were several thefts as well as damage of business property, though it doesn't necessarily appear that these crimes were necessarily connected to one another. They merely occurred on the same dates, which made police investigate them together.

Additionally, a wanted individual is in custody with Cobb County police. The individual was taken into custody at the 600 block of South Marietta Parkway near South Fairground Street. Anyone who is arrested is given the right to legal representation, however. Attorneys can often straighten out what happened and see to it that justice is done.

Three thefts occurred that day. One of these thefts was reported in the 1600 block of Terrell Mill Road, while another was reported in the 3200 block of Windy Hill Road. Additionally there was a third theft reported near the 2800 block of Delk Road. Police are apparently looking in these three incidents, which all appear to be thefts by taking.

Under Georgia law, theft by taking is generally defined as appropriated any item or piece of property from another person without permission. Courts generally consider this to be the case whether force was used or not. Thus a theft through the threat of force is considered a theft by taking, as is pick pocketing someone. Armed robbery and shoplifting generally carry other charges, however.

Two separate entering auto incidents occurred on July 31. One was reported in the 2500 block of Sandy Plains Road. The other was reported near the 700 block of Andora Court. Entering auto incidents in the state of Georgia refer to times where someone illegally enters a motor vehicle to steal it or commit another felony. It's generally considered separate from regular theft.

That being said, it's quite likely that these suspects wanted to steal the motor vehicles that they were entering. That's usually how these crimes end up being carried out. Investigators will surely have to have a look at intent before they can say for sure, however.
