Officers from the New Port Beach police department filed a bulletin with an alert service in regards to a residential burglary. The crime took place on the 2700 block of Harbor View drive. It would have happened sometime between 6:15 and 8:00 PM on October 31. Police investigators are still not completely sure of exactly what time the crime took place at.

According to the reports, an unknown suspect pried their way into a home. The suspect would have had to pry the rear sliding glass door open so that they could gain entry into the residence. Once the suspect was inside they headed up to the master bedroom. They then took several items.

Police believe that the thief stole an undisclosed amount of money that was in loose US legal tender. They also took jewelry and a pillowcase. While that last item may appear slightly unusual, the thief may have taken a pillowcase to provide them with a sack to put the jewelry and currency into. Carrying such an item around to begin with might have seemed unnecessarily suspicious.

The suspect then fled out the front door. As a result of the crime, the New Port Beach Police took the opportunity to remind area residents about some basic safety information in regards to preventing residential property crimes. Many of these incidents are crimes of opportunity that could be avoided had suspects been unable to see whatever it was that they ended up stealing. Naturally they also reminded residents to keep doors and windows locked.

Regardless of this what has been done is done. New Port Beach police are looking into the crime and attempting to collect information in regards to the suspect. While at this point nothing regarding the appearance of the suspect is known, they have still reached out to the community in the hopes that they could receive some clue as to who did this. They have also done their best to collect physical evidence at the scene of the crime. This evidence will receive a laboratory analysis.
