On June 20th 2013 members and associates of the notorious gang “Nuestra Familiar” will stand trial before Judge Rise Pichon. The crimes committed by the gang are numerous and dangerous. The charges rang from drug selling to murder. Each individual involved in the case is charged with a differed crime, some have private lawyers, while other simple sat there and smiled during hearings. The case goes on.
It was first on May 30th that the Santa Clara County criminal grand jury indicted the individuals involved. The felonies charged that day, when counted, reach seventy-seven. The charges include unbelievable things such as robbery, murder, gang activity, and even witness intimidation. The attorney’s office has released that of the 49 defendants, all of them will be charged with illegal gang activity. This won’t stop some defendants, however.
A lawyer of one of the 49, whom will go unnamed, is Daniel Jensen. Jensen’s client is apparently charged with only one count of selling the controlled substance methamphetamine. The defense attorney’s main claim is that the witness for the charge is now in jail for murder. Daniel Jensen, among other hired attorney’s, will fight hard for their clients. Many charges have already been dropped depending of the individual case of the gang member and their own consolidation agreements.
The Judge of the trials, Judge Rise Pichon, is trying to be as fair as possible as the defendants stand before him one by one. As Pichon read charges such as robberies of up to $60,000 dollars he continued to remember the individual rights, but that they were all in the same boat. It was Pichon who decided it would be best to give all the defendants the same date of June 20th for their final hearing.
The gang was actually brought down and all of these charges listed due to the results of an investigation that lasted three years. The discovered leader of “Nuestra Familia” is claimed to be Larry “Conejo” Lucero according to prosecutors. Many of who he leads are actually already in federal prisons in California, again as a result to the investigation. As mentioned, the next advancement of the case will take place on June 20th, a date chosen by Judge Pichon himself to continue the case with the gang members and associates. As time continues we can only hope that justice prevails.
