Prior to starting up his own firm, Mr. Southard served as Criminal Court Deputy Bureau Chief and prosecutor in one of the largest urban prosecutors offices in the nation. Additionally, he has conducted training programs for NYPD recruits in courtroom testimony and has personally supervised/trained over 50 junior assistant DAs. Mr. Southard has appeared as a guest commentator for Court TV as well as Fox News Channel and ABC News Now discussing high profile cases including, Michael Jackson, Kobe Bryant, Martha Stewart, and Scott Peterson. Mr. Southard opened up his law office in 2003 in lower Manhattan but handles cases in all five boroughs, Westchester, Nassau and Albany counties. Mr. Southard believes that every case deserves his personal attention instead of assigning work to be handled by paralegals or attorneys with minimal experience. Mr. Southard has also taught as an adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
