George Zimmerman was Made the Point Person for the Neighborhood Watch
On day one, the police testified that there had been burglaries and vandalism in the complex Zimmerman lived in, so Neighborhood Watch was organized. A community meeting was held, residents were instructed in observing suspicious characters and they were instructed to call George Zimmerman and tell him about it. He was the selected homeowner to call the police so that everyone in the complex would not be calling the cops all the time.
They played the tapes of every call Zimmerman had made in the previous six months and he was always matter-of-fact, no festering wound or frustration heard at all. Very polite and even meek. He was appointed by the cops and the homeowners to do just what he did, call the cops and report suspicious behavior. Dispatch always asked about race strictly as a matter of description so cops knew who they were looking for. There was one actual arrest and prosecution for burglary as a result of his call.
I report this to the one among us who was saying that Zimmerman called cops all the time to get black kids in trouble because they were black. Not so.
