Investigations into bribery charges involving the mayor of a New Jersey city are currently on.  The Federal Bureau of Investigation is currently seeking evidence into allegations of bribery, extortion, fraud and money laundering involving the mayor of New Jersey’s capital, Trenton.

The allegations involve Mayor Tony Mack, whose home and offices including the purchasing office, finance department, and information technology department were searched last week by agents.  The offices and homes of Mac's brother and campaign donor were also searched as part of the investigation.

Trenton's mayor has spent much of his time battling accusations of reckless spending, cronyism and other allegations.  Mack insists that he had never violated any laws, but has made no further statement.  Federal investigators are investigating a number of crimes including extortion, fraud, bribery, money laundering and even drug distribution, linked to the Mack administration.

This isn't the first time that Tony Mack has faced charges like these.  His administration has been plagued by all kinds of scandals and criminal allegations ever since he took over office.  In the first year of office alone, a number of business administrators resigned after facing a number of criminal charges.

One of the administrators resigned after being found guilty on charges of embezzlement.  A housing director also resigned after it came out that he had a theft conviction on his record.  The mayor's chief of staff was arrested after he faced allegations of attempting to purchase heroin.  His half brother pleaded guilty to charges of official misconduct.  He is believed to have directed water works crews to perform private jobs on the side, making use of equipment belonging to the city, and illegally billing the city.
