Are the police and the principal allowed to question my daughter without notifying me before or right after they did it?

My 13 year old daughter was questioned by police and school principal, regarding bullying one of her friends on Facebook. My daughter was indirectly involved. She was just helping her friend out and somehow threats were involved and police were notified. I was not made aware of the situation till after the interview occurred. My question is, should I have been notified before they were interrogating her? What are my legal rights, if any?

They are free to question her, and she is free to say she does not want to be questioned without her parents there, which all kids should be taught by their parents to say. No one has to talk to government, and no one should, and kids in particular should never talk to government without a parent or attorney there [and even then, they probably should not talk to government].
